Fruit Cream
On January 13, 2015 by Meghalee DasFruit Cream is a dessert made of layers of crumbled biscuits/sweet crackers, whipped cream, assorted fruits and nuts and breadcrumbs. It is very popular in India and can be made any time of the year because you can use any fruits available during that time. It is also one of the easiest and quickest dessert recipes and I always make this whenever I am in a hurry! Just make sure you have a good hand mixer because it makes whipping the cream so much easier. You can also use cream that is not whipped, which is also delicious but has a different texture. Make it a day before guests arrive so that it gets time to set in the fridge.
Ingredients:
Whipping cream: 2 cups
Powdered sugar: ½ cup or to taste
Assorted fruits and nuts: 3-4 cups
Ground Graham crackers or Marie biscuits: 2 cups
Breadcrumbs: 1 cup (optional)
Method:
1) Whip cream with sugar till stiff peaks form.
2) Cut fruits like apples, bananas, pears etc into small cubes and add them to the cream along with assorted nuts or berries.
3) Grind Graham crackers or Marie biscuits into a coarse powder and put a thick layer of it in a dish. Lightly press them down.
4) Now add the layer of fruit cream over the crushed biscuits.
5) Sprinkle breadcrumbs to get a crunchy taste, but skip this step if you don’t have breadcrumbs. (You can also make your own breadcrumbs by toasting regular white bread till crispy and grinding it in the mixie.)
6) Let it set in the fridge for a few hours. Serve chilled.
